I will try to add more narrative later. The following links show the repeated disregard shown to the lakeshore reidents by the Golden Township Board.
Most of us who moved here had carrers elsewhere. We could have lived almost anywhere, and loved being in Oceana County. Several of us opposed the illegal expansions of Timberlake campground, and attended many Golden Township Board and Planning Commission meetings. We finally gave up.
Those who attended frequently included:
Joe Nameth was a retired Air Force Colonel, and a fine guy. After his death he was interred in a beautiful ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery.Rilla Nameth worked in the Pentagon as a civilian logistics employee. Fortunately, her location had changed before her office was destroyed by the 9/11 attaack. Bob Collins was a successful business man, and a WWII B25 bomber pilot, flying many missions. A third of his colleagues were killed in action. Jean Henk was a successful business woman. All of the above except Rilla (and, hopefully Jean) are now dead. Before we gave up I applied twice to fill Planning Commission vacancies. Some of my credentials are listed below in my second application.
